The book that I’ve (re)read most often is Le Petit Prince, but TBH I like Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s wife better.

I'm at a bit of a loose end, fandom writing-wise. I have this HP!Fusion X-M:FC plotbunny that I'm not comfortable starting, since I haven't even written a single X-M:FC drabble. My first Merlin fic was a merlin100 drabble, where I won all these fuzzy feelings and paid LJ besides (Thanks oconel and nefernat). I feel that if I can’t even write a drabble for a fandom, I have no business writing in that fandom =/

In terms of remixee happiness, my latest remix was a resounding success. In terms of my own remixing satisfaction, I feel that I've made a n00b mistake.

IMO, a remix should be able to stand alone, instead of requiring knowledge of the original. In that respect, it's more fitting to call A Wizard's Education (The Teach your heart Remix) a "companion piece" instead of a remix.

My mistake was in not defining a narrow enough scope for the remix before writing. When the original is an epic 71K words, this is essential. Otherwise, the remix suffers from too-wide narrative breaks.

When I crossed the border to Canada last summer, I was happy because Matthew Williams (Canada's personification) is one of my favorite characters.

Even for an animanga fandom, Hetalia fandom is scary. I do love the canon though, and all the possibilities it offers.

My favorites: Arthur Kirkland (British people being tsundere), Wang Yao (fictionalized loving Sino-Japanese relations, but I love his older brother personality, long hair and beautiful legs) and Feliks Łukasiewicz (Shy of strangers and deceptively strong. Go read daegaer's fics).

They're fun exactly _because_ they're "stereotypes" (Ditto Glee S1.1). This is probably only understood by animanga fans.

Turns out they are played the same actor. IDK why I'm surprised, considering pretty blue-eyed Captain George Kirk = muscly redneck THOR. *inserts face of disbelief*. Prolly because Starter for Ten is British and Captain America is, you know, American? Haha. And I still remember when people complained that Bridget Jones was played by an American.

Other James McAvoy stuff I've watched since then:

a) X-Men: First Class deleted scenes. Oh Charles you inappropriate lecher you <3
The deleted scenes just lend so much support to チャエリ [ChaEri] (seme!Charles x uke!Erik, as opposed to エリチャ [EriCha]) mwahahahaha. Not that I don't enjoy both ;-), I just love the Japanese fanartists' take on seme!Charles: sexually socially inappropriate lush academic with a skewed moral compass.

b) Penelope =DDD Nice enjoyable movie with an empowered female hero.
It tripped me up so much because the accents in the beginning of the movie are American, then halfway into the movie half of the cast have a British accent, and in the ending scene pretty much everyone has a British accent except for Christina Ricci. I know they were aiming for an "everywhere" location, but still. CONFUSING. McAvoy's accent also slipped in the middle. It just increases my respect for Hugh Laurie O_o

c) The first two episodes of Children of Dune. Of course, I promptly spoiled myself for the third episode when I went looking for Atreides twincest on AO3. Leto NOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo T_T

Things you need to know about Children of Dune:

1. The spice must flow.
2. Leto/Ghanima *____* <333
3. We go forward. We go back. We go forward. We go back. No, really, just watch the Leto & Ghanima fanvid. Spoilers, but if you're clueless about Dune it won't spoil much of anything. I got spoiled from fanfic, not the fanvid =/

d) His few minutes of appearance in Band of Brothers.
e) His <1 minute appearance in Lorna Doone, in which he looks like a pretty, pretty girl, prettier than the glasses!girl he's romancing. The long wavy hair and red and blue uniform didn't help.

Jane Eyre. First of all, I don't get why they started the movie from the middle. I watched the movie 1.5 times and I still don't get it.

Second, I was rooting for St. John until he proposed, in which he amply demonstrated that he DOESN'T GET JANE AT ALL. =( I'm making disappointed faces at you, Jamie Bell St. John! So I get why Jane ran back to be with creepyRochester instead =P

Michael Fasbbender's Rochester is, as expected, v. creeper (Perhaps to Twilight's creeperEdward levels? Why the same first name WAHHHhhh). What delightfully surprised me though, is he plays creeperRochester with humor. Like, he's MOCKING JANE GENTLY AND NOT-SO-GENTLY but it's all in good fun. Plus, Jane Eyre has wits and claws. Rawr.

Lastly, I approve of the ending shot and the exclusion of the book's epilogue. Because the book's epilogue is the epitome of foreboding creepy in a book already filled with creepy. I mean it all in the most romantic sense, of course.

Help for my merlinreversebb research, please:

1) What are the episodes featuring Gwaine?
2) And the episodes featuring Leon in an important role =3
3) Any Lancelot in S3 and S4?
4) Any Mordred?
5a) Any fanon hair color/eye color for Vivienne?

Spencer looks like Howard Stark, except sexier and less pretty. There were several moments where it looked like Spencer was going to kiss Brian (James McAvoy), because of all the touching and the standing close together and the fact that McAvoy is 170 cm and I lurve him. And Spencer made a mixtape for Brian. If that's not a declaration of love I don't know what that is.

Also the source for this .gif with freshman!McAvoy** awkwardly dancing in a pretend vicar getup.

Imma gonna run out of McAvoy movies to watch, but I refuse to watch Atonement >=( because of the angst and Keira Knightley. I'd prolly break down and watch Wanted someday though. After I rewatch Becoming Jane.

1. I'm shamelessly reading the gazillion Arthur/Eames on AO3 regardless of the fact that I think the ending of Inception is a dream =P I don't care what the director/producer says.

Does anyone know if there are any U.S. pickery comm. out there like britpickery and hp_britglish?
I mean, we have lots of non-Americans in American TV show fandoms, right? How do they fact-check their American-ism? Most Americans have not visited all 50 states, so having a NYpicker/Illinoispicker/etc. would also come in handy.

The downside is that when answering city-specific/state-specific questions, you're effectively disclosing your present location (or that you've lived there in the past). But most LJers probably are not as paranoid as me re: that matter...

tl;dr: Any interest in starting up a U.S. pickery comm.?

I keep on feeling that my two main characters give out a bromance feel instead of a romance feel. And this after they've had their first kiss too =/ ( Read more... )

=/ =( I'm actually contemplating AU-ing/fanficing my origific to see if I can make the atmosphere more romantic.

One thing that I do like about this kissing scene is the disjointed-from-reality feel. Whether that's because they're on an airplane and thus exists in a transient space, or because their whole situation is just weird, or just the disjointed feel of a new relationship, it's all good.

I suspect people don't read romance stories to experience disjointed-ness secondhand though. =_=

2 c. Sexy!GrownUp!Privileged!Pureblood!Neville is a fun fic premise though. Neville is raised by purebloods who're almost as snobby as the Malfoys! Except they're classier about it! (And did not support the Dark Lord, at least not publicly)

1. I've been relying heavily on picowrimo for my cheerleader/support system as I post 100~ word snippets of my current original WIP, "The Proper-False"* [ 1 | 2 | 3 ]. LJ being down --> no support sytem for me** ._.

2. For whatever reason, I prefer to write directly in LJ "post entry" box instead of MS Word. So that was another teensy annoying hindrance to my writing.

3. In (as-yet-unposted) part four, 1270 words are spent entirely in the kitchen *facepalm*
And it's not because they're creatively misusing whipped cream/butter/olive oil/whathaveyou. They're just having CONVERSATION after CONVERSATION. And there's only one innuendo*** in the whole thing.

4 a. ...It feels like this fic exists solely for N and A to banter with each other. Which is true to a certain extent. But still.
4 b. I want to fastforward to plot points**** but the characters want to chat some more (!!!)

5. Not gonna project/estimate how long this fic is going to be, because I foresee tears of frustration =_=

* I initially referred to it as Chinese Waiter Dude and East Coast Jerkwad, but Adrien is nowhere as jerk-ish as I first envisioned him to be, so for now it's subtitled: "How Nicholas Goh met the Cartwrights" If there's a sequel it'd be "How Adrien Cartwright met the Gohs" =P

*** Okay, and one implied past sex act. And a brief start start of a fantasy. And one implied fantasy. But it doesn't change the fact that it's all conversation conversation conversation! Over cakes! And hot chocolates!

1. I watched HP7.2 on IMAX almost exactly 4 years* after the book release of DH.

2. In the past, I kept on saying I was gonna finish reading DH before I watch the final movie. That obv. didn't happen. Ahaha. Maybe if I skim the camping parts I'll be more motivated?
And now that I've watched the movie I'm curious which ones are book canon and which ones are movie fanon canon.
